Togo’s Hawks Strengthen Squad Ahead of Crucial AFCON Qualifier
The Togo national football team has now gathered its full squad ahead of their critical African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Guinea on November 15. Coach Tchanilé Tchakala’s squad received a major boost as a fresh wave of players arrived in Lomé on Tuesday evening. Among the new arrivals are key figures such as Emmanuel Adebayor, Serge Gakpé, Serge Akakpo, Agassa Kossi, Alban Sabah, Matthieu Dossevi, Floyd Ayité, Jonathan Ayité, Awounyo Papa, and Jacques Alaixys Romao. These players had previously been suspended for the Hawks’ last outing against Guinea, but now rejoin the team as they prepare for the crucial encounter.
With the team now at full strength, Tchakala’s charges will engage in their second training session this afternoon at 3 p.m. The session, held at the Kegué Stadium, is open to both the public and the press, allowing fans and media to witness the team’s preparations firsthand.
On Tuesday, the Eperviers (Hawks) conducted their first training session since the arrival of the new players, as they begin to focus on their November 15 clash with Guinea. The match, set to take place on the fifth matchday of the AFCON qualifiers, is of paramount importance to Togo’s hopes of securing a spot in next year’s tournament.
Togo’s squad now includes 25 players from a diverse range of clubs across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. The team’s goalkeepers include Agassa Kossi (Reims, France), Djihani N’Guissa (Dyto, Togo), and Nouridine Yacoubou (Semassi, Togo). In defense, the team boasts experience with players like Djene Dakonam (AD Alcorcon, Spain), Mawouna Kodjo Amevor (Go Ahead Eagles, Netherlands), and Serge Akakpo (Hoverla Uzhhorod, Ukraine).
In midfield, the Eperviers are bolstered by the presence of Alaixys Romao (Marseille, France), Floyd Ayité (Bastia, France), and Mathieu Dossevi (Olympiakos, Greece). Meanwhile, the attacking options are equally formidable, with the inclusion of stars such as Serge Gakpé (Nantes, France), Jonathan Ayité (Alanyaspor, Turkey), and the veteran Emmanuel Adebayor (Tottenham, England), who remains a key figure for Togo.
Togo’s preparations are now in full swing as they aim to secure the crucial points against Guinea. With a mix of domestic and international players, the Hawks are determined to deliver a strong performance on home soil and continue their push for qualification to the 2015 AFCON.
