In an exclusive interview with La Gazette du Fennec, Algerian midfielder Medhi Lacen shared his thoughts on the beginning of the national team’s training camp. Lacen expressed his admiration for the facilities provided to the Algerian squad and emphasized the potential within the team.
Lacen acknowledged the formation of a group, including young players, and highlighted the team’s capacity to achieve success. However, he urged caution and emphasized the importance of staying grounded, focusing on progressing through the group stage and gaining confidence before thinking about further accomplishments.
Expressing his personal goals for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), Lacen stated, “I am keen to achieve a good CAN, not to respond to my detractors, but because I benefit from the confidence of the coach and I want to show myself in case I have to leave my current club.” Despite the potential pressure of being the team captain, Lacen emphasized that the real pressure comes from external sources, such as media and fans, but the team is fully aware of the challenges they face.
Algeria aims to perform well in the CAN, and Lacen is determined to contribute positively to the team’s success during the tournament.
