Mali secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations after a 1-1 draw with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mamadou Samassa was instrumental for Mali, scoring the equalizing goal in the 14th minute. Dieumerci Mbokani had earlier given DR Congo the lead with a penalty in the 3rd minute. The result allowed Mali to finish second in Group B, earning them a place in the knockout stage.
