Kevin Constant, the AC Milan midfielder, has officially declined to be part of the Syli National, the Guinean national football team. In a letter addressed to the Guinean Football Federation (FéGuiFoot), Constant cited strained relationships with certain teammates, insufficient supervision, and inadequate resources surrounding the national team as reasons for his decision.
Constant expressed his concerns about the working conditions and the atmosphere within the team, highlighting that despite previously informing the federation about these issues in the hope of improvement, he has not witnessed any positive changes. He lamented that conditions worsened during the last gathering, making it untenable for him to continue.
Regrettably for Guinea, Constant’s decision means they will have to navigate without his presence as they face Niger on October 13 in a crucial match for a spot in the CAN 2013 in South Africa. Despite having a goal advantage from the home leg (1-0), Syli National will miss Constant’s contributions in their quest for qualification.
