CAN 2012 LADIES: CAMEROONIAN EDJANGUÉ ABSENT

Silvie 300x222 1

Augustine Sylvia Edjangué, the young Cameroonian international, will not be participating in the 2012 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). Despite her desire to represent her country, she is obligated to fulfill her duties with her club, Rossiyanka, in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where they are set to play in the round of 16 against Sparta Prague.

Expressing regret for her absence from the continental tournament, Edjangué stated, “I would really like to play for my country, but I have obligations to my club in Russia; UEFA Champion’s League matches. Good luck to my teammates on the national team for this CAN 2012. My heart goes out to them, and I wish them all the luck in the world.”

The Women’s CAN is scheduled to begin in Equatorial Guinea, featuring eight participating teams in its 8th edition. Edjangué, aged 23, has been an essential player in the Cameroonian defense since joining the Russian club Rossiyanka in 2011. Her football journey includes starting with the Franck Rollycek club in Douala, then moving to Equatorial Guinea with Aguilas Verdes, and later being recruited by Etarek United, a club based in the United Arab Emirates.
