Trabzonspor are preparing an ambitious move to take Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana on loan, with the Turkish giants exploring their options before their transfer window closes on September 12.

The Cameroon international has been linked with a possible exit as manager Ruben Amorim reshapes his squad.

According to Turkish outlet Takvim, Onana is now firmly on Trabzonspor’s radar, with the club keen to strengthen their goalkeeping department in the coming days.

United’s crowded goalkeeping roster has fuelled speculation over Onana’s future.

The club currently boast four senior stoppers: Onana, Belgium’s Senne Lammens, Turkish international Altay Bayindir, and veteran Tom Heaton.

Bayindir has started all three Premier League fixtures this season, while Lammens is believed to have been recruited with the long-term view of becoming Amorim’s first-choice.

That situation has raised questions about Onana’s role moving forward.

The 29-year-old endured a challenging campaign at Old Trafford, facing criticism for several high-profile errors, and now finds himself potentially pushed down the pecking order.

Trabzonspor, who remain active in the market due to Turkey’s extended transfer deadline, are monitoring developments closely. While no formal offer has yet been confirmed, the club are understood to be weighing up the possibility of presenting United with a loan proposal before the September 12 cut-off.

Onana’s future may hinge on whether Amorim is willing to sanction a departure, particularly with United competing on multiple fronts this season. For now, the Cameroonian remains part of the squad, but uncertainty continues to grow over whether his time at Old Trafford could be cut short.
