Cameroonian striker Karl Etta Eyong joins Levante on four-year deal
Karl Etta Eyong has completed a move to Levante UD from Villarreal, signing a four-year contract with the Spanish club in a transfer worth €1.5 million.
The 21-year-old striker, who had been linked with interest from FC Barcelona and Rangers, finalised his switch in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
Levante confirmed the signing on their official website and social media channels, securing Eyong’s services until June 2029. Villarreal, while initially reluctant to part ways with the young forward, agreed to the deal but inserted a buyback clause, allowing them the option to re-sign him in the future.
The Cameroonian forward opted to remain in Spain despite interest from several clubs abroad, citing Levante’s sporting project and the promise of increased playing time as key factors in his decision. The move is seen as a significant step in his career, offering him the opportunity to establish himself further in Spanish football.
Eyong’s rise in Spain has been closely followed since his arrival at Villarreal, where he quickly made an impression with his goalscoring ability. For Villarreal’s senior side, he registered two goals and two assists in seven appearances. With the club’s B team, he enjoyed a prolific spell, netting 19 goals and adding six assists in 30 matches, further underlining his attacking prowess.
Levante will be hoping his arrival provides a boost to their forward line as they push to strengthen their position in Spanish football. Eyong’s versatility and finishing ability have made him one of the most promising young forwards from Africa, and his new club is expected to offer him a more prominent role.
On Transfermarkt, Eyong is currently valued at €5 million, reflecting his potential and rapid development over recent seasons. For Levante, securing his signature represents a strategic investment, while Villarreal’s decision to include a buyback clause shows their belief in his long-term potential.
Speaking about his decision, Eyong expressed confidence in his new chapter: “I wanted to stay in Spain because it’s a league I know well. Levante’s ambitions and project convinced me, and I believe this is the right place to continue growing as a player.”
Levante’s summer acquisition of Eyong adds another exciting talent to their squad as they look to build for the future. His arrival is expected to provide depth and firepower, while also giving him the platform to showcase his talent at a higher level.
With a contract running until 2029, Eyong now has the opportunity to establish himself as a key figure for Levante, and his performances will be closely monitored by Villarreal, who maintain the option to bring him back. For now, the Cameroonian forward is focused on making an immediate impact with his new club.
