Cameroonian prodigy Christian Kofane sets record as Leverkusen’s youngest scorer in UEFA Champions League

Cameroonian teenager Christian Kofane has become the youngest goal scorer for Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League, after finding the back of the net in the team’s 1-1 draw against PSV on Wednesday night.

In a close contest played at Bay Arena, the highly rated youngster started the game and impressed with his intelligent movement and composure as he led the line for the German side.

Kofane’s moment of glory arrived in the 65th minute when he pounced on a defensive error from the Dutch visitors.

With ice-cool precision, he slotted the ball into the net from close range to give Leverkusen the lead.

PSV, however, hit back quickly. Just seven minutes later, Ismael Saibari combined with Guus Til inside the box before finishing into the right corner to make it 1-1.

Both teams pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but neither could find the breakthrough, leaving the spoils shared on matchday two of the Champions League group stage.

For Kofane, the record-breaking goal underlined his meteoric rise and will serve as a huge boost in confidence as he continues his development at the highest level.
