Cameroonian national team left in limbo as Fecafoot fails to respond to friendly match proposals

With just over a month remaining before the next FIFA international window, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon face growing uncertainty, as no friendly matches have been confirmed and the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) has remained silent despite multiple proposals.

New head coach Marc Brys, who took the reins in April, has reportedly submitted a list of preferred opponents for the June international break.

Among them are five prominent European sides—France, Germany, Belgium, England, and Greece.

The intention was clear: to test his squad against top-tier competition and begin shaping a formidable side capable of competing at the highest level.

However, since submitting the proposals, Brys has reportedly received no feedback from the federation. Sources close to the matter claim that the Belgian coach expressed concern over the lack of communication, describing the absence of a response within 72 hours as “excessively slow” given the urgency and clarity of the request.

The silence from Fecafoot has raised alarms within the national team setup, as preparations for the next fixtures remain on hold.

This delay comes at a critical time for Cameroon, who are eager to rebuild momentum after a series of underwhelming performances in recent tournaments.

With FIFA calendar dates rapidly approaching, logistical planning, travel coordination, and player availability all hinge on timely action from the governing body—something that, as it stands, remains conspicuously absent.

The situation is further complicated by ongoing administrative discord within Cameroonian football. Relations between the Ministry of Sports and Fecafoot have reached a low point, marked by a visible power struggle and public tensions.

The fallout has already produced dramatic consequences, including a directive that reportedly prohibits Fecafoot president Samuel Eto’o from entering the Indomitable Lions’ dressing room—a stark indication of the friction at the top of the football hierarchy in the country.

Observers and supporters alike have grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of transparency and coordination. While Brys is said to be determined to bring a new level of professionalism and tactical rigor to the squad, his efforts risk being undermined by an unstable administrative environment that hinders progress before a ball is even kicked.

The silence from Fecafoot stands in stark contrast to the urgency demanded by the international calendar. As other national teams finalize their friendlies and training camps, Cameroon’s plans remain in flux, threatening to derail the crucial early phase of Brys’ tenure and further erode confidence in the federation’s leadership.

Unless Fecafoot breaks its silence and takes swift action, the Indomitable Lions could find themselves idle during a vital preparation window—a missed opportunity that could have lasting implications on their competitive trajectory. For now, the clock is ticking, but the federation has yet to answer the call.
