Charles Junior Bassilekin has completed a move from Cameroon’s Galactic Football Academy to Spanish top-flight side Real Oviedo, signing a four-year contract with the recently promoted La Liga club.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who will initially link up with Oviedo’s youth squad, has committed to the club until the summer of 2029.

The transfer marks a significant milestone in his career, with Oviedo aiming to develop him further for a swift transition to the first team.

Based in Douala, Galactic Football Academy is widely regarded as one of Cameroon’s leading talent hubs, producing several high-level prospects in recent years.

Bassilekin spent eight years at the academy, where he honed his technical ability and tactical awareness, earning a reputation as one of the country’s brightest young players.

His standout performances at the 2025 Chedjou Sports Consulting tournament proved pivotal in securing the move, attracting interest from Oviedo’s scouting network.

The Spanish club, freshly promoted to La Liga, acted quickly to secure his signature as part of their long-term development strategy.

Galactic Academy celebrated the transfer in an official announcement, hailing Bassilekin’s success as a reflection of their commitment to nurturing elite talent.

The club’s statement expressed pride in his achievements and confidence that he will thrive in Spain’s top division.

For Bassilekin, the switch to Real Oviedo offers an opportunity to further his growth on a larger stage, with the Spanish side known for giving young talents the platform to develop and progress into senior football. His move adds to the growing list of Cameroonian players making their mark across Europe’s elite leagues.
