Cameroonian forward Didier Lamkel Zé attracts interest from Shanghai Shenhua and Chengdu Rongcheng

Didier Lamkel Zé’s strong start in China has placed him firmly on the radar of two of the country’s biggest clubs.

The Cameroonian forward, currently with Qingdao Hainiu, has delivered five goals and two assists in just nine league matches, form that has caught the attention of Shanghai Shenhua and Chengdu Rongcheng.

According to reports, both sides are keen to secure the 29-year-old’s signature when the transfer window opens and have already opened discussions with the player over a potential move.

The offers on the table are believed to be highly lucrative, underlining the growing demand for Lamkel Zé’s services in the Chinese Super League.

His career path has been far from straightforward. Known for his unpredictable temperament as much as for his technical ability, Lamkel Zé has played for 12 clubs in just nine years, including Royal Antwerp, FC Metz and Wydad Casablanca.

Despite the turbulence, he continues to demonstrate the raw attacking qualities that first marked him out as a talent.

At Qingdao, he has quickly become a central figure in the attack, bringing directness and creativity to a side looking to climb the league standings.

His current contract is due to expire in December, raising the likelihood of a move in the coming months.

With his reputation now rising in China, there is a strong chance he could remain in the league, where he is reportedly earning more than €80,000 per month.

Valued at around €500,000, the forward remains an affordable target for clubs with significant financial muscle.

Shanghai Shenhua, one of the oldest and most successful clubs in China, and Chengdu Rongcheng, a fast-emerging force in the league, both see Lamkel Zé as a player capable of making an immediate impact.

At 29, the Bertoua-born striker is entering a pivotal stage of his career.

A move to a bigger Chinese club would represent not only a financial step forward but also an opportunity to compete for honours and re-establish himself as a top-level forward.

While the future remains uncertain, the next transfer window promises to be decisive.

Lamkel Zé’s performances in recent months have revived his profile, and his next destination could determine whether his career finally finds stability after years of restlessness.

For now, his goals in Qingdao are doing the talking – and the giants of Chinese football are listening.
