Cameroonian international Joss Didiba has signed a two-year contract extension with FC Zlin, securing his future with the newly promoted Czech First Division side.

Didiba, 27, has been a crucial figure for Zlin since joining the club in 2022. His commanding presence in defence played a significant role in guiding the team back to the top flight.

The club’s decision to offer him a new deal reflects the high regard in which he is held by both the management and supporters.

Speaking to 237foot, Didiba expressed his satisfaction with the contract renewal, describing it as a continuation of his personal growth and professional journey.

“I’m happy to have found work again because being out of contract is like being unemployed for a footballer,” he admitted candidly.

The central defender, who previously spent time in Italy with Juventus during his youth career, revealed that the decision to remain with Zlin was not taken lightly.

He weighed several options before ultimately committing to the club that had given him stability and an important role on the pitch.

“After the efforts made last season to bring the team back to the top flight, the management thought it was only right to offer me a new contract,” Didiba explained.

“I accepted after some consideration. I had some concrete offers from other clubs, but I decided to continue my adventure with Zlin.”

Among the offers he received were approaches from clubs in Slovakia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Hungary, including a notable proposal from Slovenian side Zilina.

However, the Cameroonian defender emphasised that security and certainty played a pivotal role in his choice.

“It’s better to accept the proposal already on the table than to wait for one that may not come,” he reflected. “I am happy to continue my adventure with this club and contribute to its success in the coming seasons.”

Didiba’s influence at Zlin extends beyond the pitch. His leadership and experience have become vital assets for a squad aiming not only to survive but to compete effectively in the Czech top division.

The club is determined to establish itself after promotion, and Didiba is expected to be central to those plans.

With pre-season preparations underway, the Cameroonian defender remains focused on the challenges ahead.

Zlin’s primary objective is to maintain its status in the top flight, and the presence of an experienced campaigner like Didiba strengthens their defensive line significantly.

Valued at €225,000 by Transfermarkt, the former Cameroonian youth international continues to demonstrate his resilience and commitment to his career path.

His journey, from Juventus’ youth system to various European leagues and now anchoring Zlin’s backline, underscores a player determined to make the most of every opportunity.

As the new Czech First Division season approaches, both Didiba and FC Zlin are looking forward to translating their ambitions into results, with the defender fully committed to contributing to the club’s stability and success.
