Cameroonian Alex Song condemns Marc Brys over remarks about Rigobert Song

Alex Song denounced Marc Brys after the Belgian coach made comments about Rigobert Song and several iconic Cameroonian football figures.

The former Cameroon midfielder voiced strong anger and urged respect for the country’s legendary players.

Song addressed the controversy with blunt clarity. He insisted the remarks crossed every acceptable line and attacked the legacy of people who shaped Cameroonian football.

He said: “What he said about Rigobert Song is unacceptable! It’s a total lack of respect. You cannot speak like that about legends who defended Cameroon.

Even those who accept such words show a lack of consideration for these players. Rigobert Song means so much to the country, especially in the green-red-yellow shirt.

He had no right to make those remarks. The same goes for Timothée Atouba. He should never behave that way. I felt deeply shocked.”

Song maintained that Brys’ comments disrespected the foundation on which modern Cameroonian football stands.

He stressed that criticism must never erase the contribution of players who sacrificed for the national team.

He also argued that public figures must choose their words with care, especially when addressing personalities who hold emotional and historical importance for supporters.

According to him, the outrage proves how deeply Cameroonians value their football heritage.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder insisted that no disagreement or dispute justifies language that undermines national icons.

He urged the football community to defend its heroes and protect the dignity of those who carried Cameroon’s colours with pride.

Song’s reaction echoed the sentiments of many fans who expressed frustration over the comments.

His intervention highlighted the sensitivity surrounding national team legends and the responsibilities that come with leadership roles in football.
