Cameroon U23 arrives in Spain for training camp
Cameroon’s U23 national team is preparing for a crucial training camp in Alaves, Spain, scheduled from 23 to 31 March 2026.
The camp is part of the team’s preparations for the 2027 U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, giving the young Indomitable Lions an opportunity to hone their skills and build cohesion ahead of competitive fixtures.
A total of 30 players have been called up for the March international break, with the squad gradually arriving and settling in Spain in the days leading up to the official start of the camp. The coaching staff plans to focus on tactical drills, fitness, and teamwork exercises to ensure the players are fully prepared for the challenges of continental qualification.
The training camp will emphasize the development of the team’s playing system, allowing coaches to test formations, defensive structures, and attacking combinations. It is also expected to serve as a platform for identifying standout performers who could be key to Cameroon’s success in the upcoming U23 AFCON qualifiers.
For many of the selected players, this will be an opportunity to make an impression on the national team setup, while also gaining international experience in a competitive and structured environment. The Spanish venue provides top-class facilities that will help the young talents adapt to high-intensity training, tactical sessions, and match simulations.
Officials have highlighted that the camp is not only about tactical preparation but also about fostering team spirit and camaraderie among the squad. Building a cohesive unit is seen as critical, as the U23 side aims to carry forward the proud tradition of Cameroonian football and succeed on the continental stage.
The Indomitable Lions U23 camp represents a key milestone in Cameroon’s youth development program, which aims to bridge the gap between junior national teams and the senior squad. By giving emerging talent international exposure and structured training, the federation hopes to ensure a steady pipeline of players ready to compete at the highest levels.
As the camp begins in Alaves, attention will now turn to how the young Lions adapt to their training environment, their readiness to implement the coach’s strategies, and their performance in the lead-up to the 2027 U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
