Cameroon teenager David Mimbang joins FC Nordsjælland
Cameroonian teenager David Mimbang has taken a major step in his young career after completing a move to Danish club FC Nordsjælland.
The 18-year-old midfielder has signed a five-season contract with the Danish outfit, committing his future to the club until 2031.
However, Mimbang will not immediately feature for FC Nordsjælland after the club decided to send him out on loan straight away.
The young Cameroonian has joined Major League Soccer side San Diego FC on loan for the 2026–2027 season, giving him the opportunity to gain valuable experience outside his homeland.
The move to San Diego FC will also mark Mimbang’s first experience playing outside Cameroon, as he begins a new chapter in his developing professional career.
Despite being only 18, Mimbang has attracted attention for his potential, with FC Nordsjælland moving quickly to secure his services on a long-term deal.
The Danish club has built a reputation for developing young players and providing them with a pathway to senior football, something that played an important role in Mimbang’s decision to join.
The midfielder believes FC Nordsjælland is the right environment for him to continue his development and take the necessary steps towards fulfilling his ambitions.
“I’m very happy to have signed a long-term contract with FC Nordsjælland, as I’m sure this is the best place for me to develop,” Mimbang said.
“I know they’ve done the same with many young players before me, as it’s a place where young players are given a chance.
“So, for me, there’s no doubt that FC Nordsjælland offers me the best opportunities to succeed and build the career I’ve always dreamed of.”
His immediate focus, however, will be on making an impression at San Diego FC during the 2026–2027 campaign.
The loan spell is expected to provide Mimbang with an important platform to adapt to a new footballing environment, compete at a higher level and continue his development before eventually returning to FC Nordsjælland.
For the teenager, the move represents a significant milestone in a career that is only beginning, with the long-term objective of establishing himself in European football and fulfilling his potential at the highest level.
