Karl Etta Eyong on the radar of Lyon

Cameroon international Karl Etta Eyong has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon, with the seven-time French champions weighing up a move for the promising forward during the ongoing summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old striker, who is currently under contract with Spanish La Liga club Levante, has attracted attention following his impressive performances, with Lyon believed to be among the clubs monitoring his progress ahead of the new season.

According to reports, the French outfit has identified Etta Eyong as one of several attacking options as they look to strengthen their squad and add greater firepower for the 2026/27 campaign.

Lyon’s recruitment team is understood to have closely followed the Cameroonian forward in recent months and views him as a player with the potential to make an immediate impact while also offering long-term value.

The club is expected to reinforce its attacking department this summer, and Etta Eyong’s blend of physicality, pace and eye for goal has reportedly impressed the scouting department at the Groupama Stadium.

However, securing the striker’s signature will not come cheaply.

Levante are under no immediate pressure to sell after tying the Cameroonian to a long-term contract that runs until June 2029. As a result, the Spanish side is believed to value the player at around €15 million, a figure Lyon would have to meet or negotiate should they decide to formalise their interest.

The valuation reflects both the player’s growing reputation and Levante’s desire to retain one of their promising attacking talents unless a significant offer arrives.

A move to Lyon would represent another important step in Etta Eyong’s rapidly developing career, offering him the opportunity to test himself in Ligue 1 and potentially feature in European competition, depending on the French club’s fortunes this season.

For Lyon, the pursuit aligns with their strategy of recruiting young players with high potential and resale value while building a squad capable of challenging near the top of French football once again.

Although discussions are still at an early stage and no official bid has yet been submitted, the Cameroonian forward is expected to remain one of the names on Lyon’s shortlist as the transfer window progresses.

Should the move materialise, Etta Eyong would become one of the latest African talents to make the switch from Spain to France, while also taking another significant step in his career as he continues to establish himself as one of Cameroon’s most exciting young attacking prospects.
