There are reports suggesting that Samuel Eto’o, the captain of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, did not participate in the pitch reconnaissance in Yaoundé due to a disagreement with coach Volker Finke over the choice of players. According to a collaborator of Finke, Eto’o wanted to include Webo and Idriss Carlos Kameni in the starting eleven, but the coach refused, especially regarding the goalkeeper position where he preferred Charles Itandje. Eto’o, upset by the refusal, reportedly threatened not to play in the upcoming match. However, the situation was said to be resolved in agreement between the player and the coach.
