FIFA Extends FECAFOOT Normalization Committee Mandate Until March 20
FIFA has confirmed that it will extend the mandate of the Normalization Committee for the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) until March 20. This decision was announced via a tweet from FECAFOOT on Wednesday.
This marks the third time the mandate of the Normalization Committee has been extended, reflecting ongoing challenges in the electoral process for the federation. The elections, which were originally scheduled to conclude this weekend, were once again delayed following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The CAS sided with the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSC), which argued that the new statutes of FECAFOOT were not compliant with the regulations.
As a result, Joseph Owona and the members of the Normalization Committee will continue to oversee Cameroonian football for at least another month. A final decision on the matter will be made at FIFA’s Executive Committee meeting, scheduled for March 19-20.
