Cameroon midfielder Jessie Guera Djou leaves Petrocub and becomes a free agent
Cameroon defensive midfielder Jessie Guera Djou has left Petrocub and is now without a club after ending his spell with the Moldovan side.
The 29-year-old’s departure was recorded on 31 July 2026, bringing an end to his time at the club he joined from Zimbru Chisinau in February 2025. Djou arrived at Petrocub on a free transfer and went on to help the team secure the Moldavian championship in the 2025-26 season.
Djou made eight appearances for Petrocub during the 2026-27 campaign before his departure, featuring in the Super Liga and in both the UEFA Champions League and Conference League qualifying rounds. He started both of Petrocub’s Champions League qualifying matches and played in both of their Conference League qualifiers, while also making four league appearances.
The midfielder did not score or register an assist in those matches. He was booked once in Champions League qualifying and did not receive a second yellow card or a red card.
Born in Douala, Djou stands 1.85m tall and is right-footed. His previous experience in Moldova includes a spell with Zimbru, while he has also played for Shkendija in North Macedonia and Croatian club NK Varazdin.
His career has included several temporary moves earlier on. He joined Petrocub from Accra Lions on loan in January 2019 and later moved to FC Sheriff, also on a temporary basis, before returning to Accra Lions. He subsequently spent time with NK Varazdin and Shkendija before becoming a free agent in 2022.
Djou has won the Moldavian championship twice. His first title came with FC Sheriff in the 2016-17 season, followed by his second with Petrocub in 2025-26.
Petrocub’s latest campaign had seen Djou used primarily in the holding midfield role, with his strongest involvement coming in European qualifying, where he started every match recorded in the competition.
The completed move leaves Djou, whose market value is listed at €250,000, available without a club from 31 July 2026.
