Cameroon: Indomitable Lions Squad List to Be Announced at End of the Week

AFCON 2015 Qualifiers: Confident Cameroon Prepare for Double-Header Against Sierra Leone
By BBC News Staff

Cameroon head into their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in high spirits, having secured two victories from their opening two Group E matches. With six points from six, the Indomitable Lions currently top the table and look well on course for qualification for the 2015 tournament in Morocco.

The next test comes in the form of a crucial double-header against Sierra Leone. Coach Volker Finke is expected to announce his squad later this week, with preparations set to begin on 5 October at the CAF Centre of Excellence in Mbankomo, near the capital Yaoundé.

The Group E standings currently place Cameroon ahead of DR Congo and Ivory Coast, who both sit on three points, while Sierra Leone, still without a win, remain at the bottom of the table with zero points.

Finke’s side has impressed so far in the qualifiers, showing signs of renewed unity and tactical discipline—qualities that had eluded them in previous campaigns. With a blend of experienced internationals and emerging talent, Cameroon now look to build on their momentum and secure early qualification.

The matches against Sierra Leone, who are battling both on and off the pitch due to the impact of the Ebola outbreak, will be critical for Cameroon’s ambitions. While the West African side has struggled in the early stages of the qualifiers, they remain unpredictable, and the Lions will be wary of complacency.

Cameroon’s recent performances have reignited optimism among fans, and with home-ground preparations set to begin in earnest, the focus now shifts to maintaining consistency and securing maximum points.
