André Onana suffers injury blow

Cameroon international André Onana suffered an early injury scare after being forced off during Trabzonspor’s Turkish Super Lig encounter against Besiktas.

Onana, on loan from Manchester United was handed a starting role in the highly competitive clash, but could only last for just seven minutes before being subbed off following an apparent injury problem.

The former Inter Milan shot stopper appeared to be in discomfort shortly after the opening whistle and was unable to continue the match. He was replaced by goalkeeper Ahmet Doğa, as Trabzonspor managed to secure a 2-1 away victory over Besiktas in the fiercely contested clash.

The incident came as a huge blow for Trabzonspor, who rely heavily on the experience and leadership of the former Manchester United shot-stopper.

Since arriving at the Turkish side, Onana has established himself as one of the team’s most influential players, delivering key performances and bringing composure to the back line.

His sudden withdrawal disrupted Trabzonspor’s rhythm early in the contest and forced the team to reorganize defensively much sooner than expected.

Onana has also remained a crucial figure for the Cameroon, meaning the injury scare will also attract attention back home in Cameroon.

Trabzonspor are expected to conduct further medical assessments to determine the seriousness of the problem after the match.

For now, the club will be hoping the injury proves to be minor and that their star goalkeeper can return to action quickly.
