Reports from various sources suggest that André Onana, the goalkeeper for the Cameroonian national team and Manchester United, is contemplating retiring from international football following Cameroon’s exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Cameroon was eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations after a defeat to Nigeria, with a scoreline of two goals to nil in the Round of 16.
Onana was absent in the initial match against Guinea before making appearances against Senegal.
However, he found himself on the substitute bench against both Gambia and Nigeria.
According to the English newspaper, “Daily Mail,” André Onana is reconsidering his international future after the disappointing journey of his national team in the African tournament.
Onana had initially announced his retirement from international play in December 2022 after leaving the Cameroon national team camp during the World Cup in Qatar.
However, he reversed that decision in September of the following year.
The newspaper suggests that Onana might bid farewell to international football following the disappointing performance of the Indomitable Lions in the Africa Cup of Nations 2023.
