Cameroon forward Christian Kofane makes first goal contribution for Leverkusen in two months
Cameroon international Christian Kofane recorded his first goal contribution for Bayer Leverkusen in two months after providing an assist in their 3-1 defeat to Stuttgart.
Kofane had endured a frustrating spell in front of goal and creativity, having failed to register either a goal or an assist in league action since March 7.
But during matchday 33 of the German Bundesliga, Kofane finally rediscovered his decisive touch in dramatic fashion.
The striker made an immediate impact by setting up Aleix García for Bayer Leverkusen’s opener just 33 seconds into the match, stunning Stuttgart with one of the fastest goals of the Bundesliga weekend.
Kofane showed sharp awareness and composure in the build-up, delivering the assist that allowed Garcia to fire Leverkusen ahead almost instantly after kick-off.
The early breakthrough appeared to put Leverkusen in control, but Stuttgart gradually fought their way back into the contest before eventually turning the game around to secure an impressive 3-1 victory at full-time.
Despite the defeat, Kofane’s performance was one of the few positives for the visitors as the Cameroonian once again demonstrated his attacking quality and importance within the squad.
The assist ended a difficult run for the forward, who had been searching for a decisive contribution for nearly two months in league competition.
Even with the recent drought, Kofane has still enjoyed a productive campaign overall for Bayer Leverkusen.
Across all competitions this season, the Cameroonian attacker has now registered nine assists and scored seven goals, underlining his growing influence in the team’s attacking setup.
His ability to create chances and stretch defences has made him a valuable asset for Leverkusen throughout the campaign, particularly in high-tempo attacking situations.
Saturday’s contribution will also come as a confidence boost for the striker heading into the closing stages of the season, especially after a challenging run that had raised questions about his form.
While Leverkusen were unable to avoid defeat against an inspired Stuttgart side, Kofane’s return to producing key moments offers encouragement for both the player and the club.
The Cameroonian international will now hope to build on the performance and finish the season strongly as Bayer Leverkusen prepare for their final fixtures of the Bundesliga campaign.
