After weeks of uncertainty surrounding the coaching staff of the Cameroon national football team, Samuel Eto’o, the legendary Cameroonian footballer and president of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot), has finally given his seal of approval to Marc Brys’ appointment as head coach of the Indomitable Lions.

The decision to affirm Brys’ position came during an emergency meeting of the Fecafoot committee convened on Wednesday.

This move effectively formalizes Brys’ role as the new coach of the Indomitable Lions, alongside his deputies Joachim Mununga and Giannis Xilouris.

The validation of Brys’ appointment by Fecafoot follows a period of uncertainty initiated by the Ministry of Sports, which had initially appointed Brys as the team’s coach over a month ago.

However, until now, his position had not been officially confirmed by Fecafoot, leading to speculation and unease within the football community.

Explaining the decision, Fecafoot cited the urgency of preparing the national team for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers and emphasized the need for continuity and stability in coaching personnel.

This move represents a significant step towards resolving the impasse between Fecafoot and the Ministry of Sports, which had led to confusion and speculation in recent weeks.

In addition to ratifying Brys’ appointment, Fecafoot announced several changes to the coaching staff, including the appointment of Carlos Idriss Kameni as goalkeeper coach and the naming of Ndtoungou Mpile Martin and David Pagou as assistants.

These adjustments signal a reorganization aimed at enhancing the team’s performance and cohesion.

Fecafoot’s decision has been promptly communicated to FIFA, which has officially acknowledged Marc Brys as the head coach of the Indomitable Lions on its website.

This development marks a significant milestone in Cameroon’s football landscape and sets the stage for renewed focus and determination as the team prepares for upcoming challenges.

While Fecafoot’s decision represents a positive step towards resolving the coaching saga, observers remain cautious, emphasizing the need for clear communication and cooperation between Fecafoot and the Ministry of Sports to ensure the team’s success.

Samuel Eto’o and Fecafoot are hopeful that this decision will pave the way for a unified approach towards achieving the team’s objectives, but only time will tell how this new chapter unfolds.
