Cameroon FA Elections: Only One Candidate Cleared to Run
The upcoming Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) elections, scheduled for November 29, will see just one approved candidate in the running—Tombi Roko—after five other contenders, including the well-known former goalkeeper Joseph Antoine Bell, were disqualified.
According to Afrik-Foot, the normalization committee currently managing Fecafoot’s operations rejected the five applications due to incompleteness. The committee outlined three mandatory criteria for a valid candidacy:
-
At least eight sponsorship letters from affiliated League members.
-
A list of 17 representatives, which must include a General Assembly delegate.
-
A non-refundable deposit of 2 million CFA francs (about €3,000).
Only Tombi Roko’s application satisfied all these requirements, effectively making him the sole eligible candidate for the presidency.
This development has raised questions about the transparency and openness of the electoral process, especially given the exclusion of prominent figures such as Bell. With the vote set to proceed as planned, it appears that Tombi Roko is now poised to lead Cameroon’s football governing body—barring any last-minute changes or appeals.
