Cameroon face Chad in Uniffac U20 tournament opener

Cameroon’s U20 side begin their Uniffac campaign against Chad at Olembe Stadium on 12 October, with the match also serving as part of the qualifying competition for the 2027 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Ghana.

Kick-off is scheduled for 13:00 Yaounde time. Cameroon’s players finished their final training session on 11 October in an upbeat mood and will approach the fixture with confidence after a high-quality preparation.

Yvan Kenmoe’s team will also have home advantage behind them as they start their campaign in the Central African Football Federations’ Union (Uniffac) tournament.

Chad, meanwhile, are returning to the competition after several years away. The Sao U20 side will have to contend with the home crowd, but coach Abakar Allamine Mahamat said his players were ready for the challenge.

Mahamat described Cameroon as a dynamic team worthy of respect, while making clear that Chad would do everything possible to secure victory and maintain their qualification objective.

In the same group, Central African Republic face Chad at 13:00 on Thursday, 15 October, before meeting Cameroon on 18 October. The Fauves reached the semi-finals at the previous edition of the tournament.

Cameroon are the logical favourites to finish top of the group. The other qualifying place is expected to be contested by Chad and Central African Republic, with the Fauves holding a slight advantage.

The tournament runs from 12 to 24 October and consists of two groups, each containing three teams. The top two sides in each group will advance to the semi-finals on 21 October.

The two finalists, who will meet on 24 October, will qualify for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
