Despite conducting training sessions with 28 local players, Volker Finke, the coach of the Indomitable Lions, remains firm in his decision not to include a local player in the squad for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil.
“At the moment, we don’t need it because the team that played the qualifying matches is ready. We cannot make immediate changes,” stated the German coach in an interview with camfoot.com.
Nevertheless, the training sessions provided an opportunity for the local players to familiarize themselves with new football concepts. Finke emphasized the importance of ongoing coach training to keep pace with football’s evolution.
While Finke intends to select at least three players for a training camp in Austria, he remains cautious about mentioning specific names to avoid controversy.
“The list of players called up for the match against Portugal will be known this Thursday,” he added.
