Cameroon announce squad for CAF 2026 World Cup qualifiers playoffs

The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has indirectly confirmed the 28 players selected by head coach Marc Brys for their crucial CAF 2026 World Cup playoff semi-final against DR Congo on November 13 in Rabat, Morocco.

Although Brys submitted his list to FECAFOOT on October 23, the federation reportedly demanded that he unveil it publicly in Yaoundé on November 6 or 7. The Belgian coach declined, prompting FECAFOOT to withhold an official release.

However, the federation’s publication of the players’ arrival schedule in Rabat on Sunday night effectively revealed the squad, confirming the presence of several key stars.

The list features household names such as goalkeeper André Onana, midfielder Franck Zambo Anguissa, captain Vincent Aboubakar, forward Bryan Mbeumo, rising star Carlos Baleba, and veteran attacker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. Newcomer Karl Etta Eyong, who earned his first call-up in October, also retains his place.

Contrary to earlier speculation, Bayer Leverkusen’s Christian Kofane did not make the cut. Meanwhile, Samuel Kotto, Junior Tchamadeu, and Brice Ambina have been dropped from the squad.

Returning to the team are midfielders Jean Onana and Yvan Neyou, as well as defender Enzo Boyomo, who was omitted last month following a disappointing showing against Cape Verde. Darlin Yongwa and Wilitty Younoussa also make their return.
