A few weeks ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon announced a preliminary 34-man squad on Friday to prepare for the tournament. Notably, the list excludes Joel Matip and Nicolas Nkoulou.
Liverpool centre-back Matip has not featured for the Indomitable Lions since September 2016, while Nkoulou, now at Torino, has been absent from the national team since Cameroon’s 2017 triumph.
Among the goalkeepers, Carlos Kameni, despite being without a club following his departure from Fenerbahçe, remains included, alongside André Onana and Fabrice Ondoa.
In midfield, the squad features players such as Zambo Nguissan and Georges Mandjeck, while the attacking options include Paul Georges Ntep, Choupo-Moting, Bassogog, and Clinton Njie, giving coach Clarence Seedorf several experienced choices upfront.
