Ghana’s Caleb Yirenkyi eager to learn from Lampard after Coventry switch

Ghana international Caleb Yirenkyi says he is looking forward to working under Frank Lampard after completing his move to Coventry City ahead of the new Premier League season.

The midfielder joined the newly promoted club from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland on Friday for an undisclosed fee, signing a long-term contract subject to international clearance.

Confirming the transfer, Coventry said: “Coventry City FC are delighted to announce the signing of Caleb Yirenkyi on a long-term contract, subject to international clearance.

“The talented midfielder joins from Danish Superliga side FC Nordsjaelland for an undisclosed fee.”

Yirenkyi excited by Lampard project

The Ghanaian youngster revealed that discussions with manager Frank Lampard played a key role in his decision to move to the English club.

Speaking after the deal was announced, Yirenkyi expressed his excitement about beginning a new chapter in his career and said he is eager to develop under the former England international.

“I’m excited to be at this club. I’ve heard so much about it and I really feel positive about being here,” Yirenkyi said.

He added, “When I spoke to the Head Coach about the plans and the style, it’s something I really like, and I look forward to learning from him.

“I want to give my best to the team each and every day. I’m still young so I want to learn from the Head Coach, the other players and work really hard for the team.”

Yirenkyi arrives at Coventry after impressing in Denmark with FC Nordsjaelland, where his performances earned him recognition at international level with Ghana.
