Cagliari sign Spanish-Nigerian striker Kevin Carlos from Nice on loan

Spanish-Nigerian centre-forward Kevin Carlos has joined Cagliari from French club Nice on loan, completing a move to Serie A on 10 August 2026.

The 25-year-old has signed a contract with the Italian club running until 30 June 2027. Carlos becomes a Cagliari player after spending the 2025-26 campaign at Nice, who finished as French Cup runners-up.

Carlos is a dual Spain and Nigeria national who was born in Ceuta. He joins Cagliari as a centre-forward and offers experience from spells in both France and Switzerland, where he established himself as a regular goalscorer.

Before moving to Nice, Carlos played for FC Basel during the 2024-25 season. He helped the Swiss side win both the Swiss championship and the Swiss Cup, adding domestic honours to his record during his time in the country.

His most productive league campaign came in 2023-24, when he finished as the leading scorer in the Credit Suisse Super League with 14 goals. That achievement remains the clearest individual milestone of his senior career and provides the main statistical context for his arrival in Sardinia.

Cagliari compete in Serie A, while Nice play in Ligue 1, meaning Carlos switches between two of Europe’s leading domestic competitions. The move also gives the forward a new club after his season in France and extends his career in another major European league.

Carlos’ arrival is recorded as a loan transfer, with Cagliari confirming the move on 10 August 2026. He is now contracted to the Italian club until the end of June 2027.
