Ivory Coast has claimed the bronze prize at the 2025 CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after an impressive shootout victory against Burkina Faso.
The U17 national teams of the two countries locked horns on Friday night to battle for the third-place finish and the bronze prize at the exciting tournament.
The encounter produced a thrilling contest, but a winner could not be decided in regulation time.
A 1-1 draw meant that the two teams had to be separated through the battle of nerves in the penalty shootout.
During the shootout, Côte d’Ivoire’s Christ Kouassi proved unbeatable in between the sticks, pulling off amazing stops to ensure the young elephants secured a 4-1 win against Burkina Faso.
Christ Kouassi’s performance earned him the Man of the Match award as he helped his side to claim bronze at the tournament.
