CAF U17 AFCON: Cameroon edge Uganda to keep qualification hopes alive

Cameroon U17 secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Uganda U17 in a tightly contested Group B encounter at the TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026.

Soudeisse Abdoulraman emerged as the hero for the Indomitable Cubs, scoring the decisive goal in the 24th minute to settle a hard-fought contest. The match was characterized by intense physicality, with five yellow cards issued throughout the 90 minutes.

Abdoulraman, who opened the scoring, received a booking in the 12th minute before finding the net. Cameroon defender Cherif Abbas Moussa was cautioned in the 32nd minute, while Uganda’s Eze Kombi saw yellow in the 55th minute. Late in the contest, Willy Sandio and Kada Isidore both picked up cautions in the 87th and 90th minutes respectively as tensions rose.

Both coaches made tactical adjustments, with Cameroon bringing on Ibrahim Djibril at halftime and Uganda responding with Abdulshakur Babi.

The result sees Cameroon move to 3rd on the Group B table, while Uganda is in second place on the table.

Cameroon face DR Congo in a must-win encounter, while Uganda look to bounce back and secure qualification against Ivory Coast.
