CAF partners with KONAMI as official gaming sponsor for AFCON 2025 and 2027

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and KONAMI Digital Entertainment have signed an agreement making KONAMI the Official Gaming Sponsor of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the 2025 and 2027 editions.

As part of the partnership, KONAMI gains exclusive gaming rights to recreate AFCON tournaments within its eFootball™ video game franchise, allowing fans worldwide to experience Africa’s premier football competition digitally.

CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba said: “The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 will be one of the most exciting editions of our flagship competition.

Our partnership with KONAMI reflects CAF’s commitment to innovation, global fan engagement, and creating new opportunities for African youth in football and digital spaces.”

The collaboration represents a key milestone in CAF’s digital transformation strategy.

By integrating the tournament into a major gaming platform, the confederation aims to enhance fan experiences, engage younger audiences, and reinforce its long-term commitment to football development across Africa.

KONAMI Senior Executive Officer Koji Kobayashi added: “We are delighted to partner with CAF. This agreement allows us to bring the passion of African football to fans worldwide through eFootball™.

We look forward to adding African star players and tournament licenses like the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, increasing the realism and excitement of the gaming experience.”

The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 is scheduled from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

The integration of the tournament into eFootball™ will allow fans to follow the competition in an interactive format, explore African talent virtually, and deepen engagement with the continent’s football culture.

This partnership highlights CAF’s ongoing efforts to innovate, expand its global reach, and combine the worlds of football and interactive entertainment to create new avenues for fan participation.
