Following the official announcement of the 2020 CHAN dates, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has implemented significant adjustments to its interclub competition calendar. These changes aim to accommodate the CHAN tournament while maintaining the integrity of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup schedules.
As a result, no Confederation Cup or Champions League matches will take place in April. Group stage matches for both competitions, covering matchdays 4 to 6, are now scheduled from January 10 to February 2, with the quarter-final draw set for February 9.
The African Super Cup will proceed as planned on February 14 in Doha, Qatar, bringing together the winners of the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup. Following this, the knockout phases of the interclub tournaments will begin on February 28 and run through May 10.
CAF has also confirmed that the Confederation Cup final will be held on May 24, while the Champions League final is set for May 29. Both finals will be played as single-leg matches, ensuring decisive conclusions to the competitions. These adjustments reflect CAF’s efforts to balance continental tournaments with domestic calendars and major international events, providing clarity for clubs, players, and fans alike.
