The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially extended its gratitude to King Mohammed VI and the Kingdom of Morocco for agreeing to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025. The prestigious tournament is scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
In a formal statement, CAF conveyed its appreciation: “The Confederation of African Football expresses its deepest gratitude to King Mohammed VI, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, its President, Fouzi Lekjaa, the government, and the people of Morocco for hosting the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025, as well as the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2024.”
CAF President Patrice Motsepe echoed this sentiment in the official announcement, stating: “I am confident that the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025, will be a tremendous success and will be the best edition in the history of this competition.”
Motsepe further highlighted his admiration for the rapid development of women’s football across the continent.
“I am also impressed by the significant growth of women’s football in Africa, and I anticipate that the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco will be highly successful,” he added.
The decision to host AFCON 2025 in Morocco underscores the country’s growing influence and capability in organizing major international sporting events.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation, under the leadership of Fouzi Lekjaa, has been instrumental in securing these events, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to promoting football at all levels.
