CAF expert gives Tripoli International Stadium security green light ahead of matches

CAF Director of Safety and Security Christian Emerowa has inspected Tripoli International Stadium as Libya steps up preparations to host continental and international football matches.

Emerowa assessed the stadium’s security and operational arrangements during his visit, measuring the facility against the safety requirements and standards of the Confederation of African Football.

His inspection focused on several critical areas considered essential for the safe staging of major football fixtures.

CAF assesses emergency and security systems

The CAF official examined the stadium’s emergency exits and evacuation plans, as well as the control rooms responsible for coordinating security and responding to incidents during matches.

Spectator and delegation access points were also assessed, with particular attention given to the systems designed to regulate movement in and around the stadium.

Emerowa further inspected the perimeter security arrangements and the designated routes for teams, referees and match officials.

The assessment forms part of CAF’s efforts to ensure venues hosting its competitions meet the required safety and security standards.

Emerowa satisfied with stadium’s readiness

Following the inspection, Emerowa expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness at Tripoli International Stadium and praised the security and organisational measures implemented at the facility.

His assessment provides an important boost to Libya’s efforts to restore the stadium to the list of venues capable of hosting major continental and international football matches.

The visit is expected to contribute to the country’s preparations as it seeks to welcome CAF competitions and other international fixtures.
