As anticipated and without any surprises, Issa Hayatou secured his re-election as the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for another four-year term. The announcement came at the conclusion of the 35th CAF general assembly held in Marrakech, Morocco, this Sunday.
This victory marks his seventh term as the leader of African football’s governing body. Notably, Hayatou stood as the sole candidate for his own succession, ensuring an uncontested election. His renewed term is set to conclude in 2017.
