AS Douanes is heading to Egypt with hopes of advancing to the round of 16 in the African Football Confederation Cup. The Togolese club is set to face Wadi Degla in the second leg of the round of 16 this Sunday.

While the Togolese public may harbor doubts about AS Douanes’ chances of qualifying, the players themselves are determined to continue their journey in the competition.

“We approach this match with seriousness, concentration, and without pressure,” stated Nouwoklo Kossivi Martin. “We are confident in our abilities and believe we can achieve this milestone with our preparations.”

Acknowledging the strength of their opponent, Martin emphasized the need for respect and focus on their tactical approach.

In the first leg, Martin’s solitary run on the left side led to a penalty, which was successfully converted by Badarou to equalize the score.

Aged 22, Martin has represented Togo in various tournaments, including the Umoa and UFOA competitions with the Togo A’ selection. He has also been involved in Togo’s Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Making his debut in the Continental Cup this season, Martin’s performances have been instrumental in AS Douanes’ success, including their victory over CIK.

Having honed his skills at the AC Merlan Academy, Martin has been playing in Togo’s first division since 2010. After a stint at Maranatha de Fiopko, he joined AS Douanes, where his performances have caught the attention of national selectors, potentially earning him a call-up to the Togo senior team in the near future.
