CAF Cup: FUS Rabat Wary of Zamalek

CAF Confederation Cup: FUS Rabat Prepare for Decisive Clash Against Zamalek

FUS Rabat are gearing up for a crucial CAF Confederation Cup return leg against Egyptian giants Zamalek this Sunday in Morocco’s capital. Following a goalless draw in the first leg in Cairo, the tie remains finely balanced, with both sides eyeing a place in the group stage.

The 0-0 result gives FUS a slight edge as they play the second leg at home, but head coach Hoalid Regragui has urged caution. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Regragui reminded his players and supporters that the outcome is far from settled.

“The goalless draw in Egypt is a double-edged sword,” Regragui said, as quoted on the club’s official website. “Everything remains to be done this Sunday against an opponent who remains the big favourite.”

Zamalek, one of Africa’s most decorated clubs, will pose a serious challenge despite the first-leg stalemate. Their experience and firepower make them dangerous visitors, and FUS will need to be at their disciplined best to navigate the return fixture.

Regragui emphasized the importance of focus and composure ahead of the decisive match, warning against any premature confidence.

“We need total concentration,” he said. “There’s no room for error. One goal could change everything.”

In a boost for the Moroccan side, the coach confirmed the return of Hicham El Aroui, who could be available for selection after recovering from injury. His presence may provide added depth and energy to the squad in what is expected to be a high-intensity encounter.

FUS will count on home support at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium to push them past a formidable opponent. With the aggregate score still level, a win of any margin will see the Rabat-based club through to the next stage, while a draw with goals would favour Zamalek on away goals.

With pride and progress on the line, Sunday’s clash in Rabat promises to be a gripping battle between two determined sides.
