Etoile Sportive du Sahel secured their place in the round of 16 of the African Football Confederations Cup with a convincing 3-0 victory over CARA Brazzaville. After a disappointing 1-0 defeat in the first leg, Roger Lemerre’s side displayed a remarkable turnaround in front of their home crowd.
The breakthrough came in the 25th minute when Seif Ghezal found the back of the net with a well-taken strike. Mohamed Slama doubled the lead just 12 minutes later, putting ESS firmly in control.
The Tunisian team continued to dominate in the second half, and their efforts were rewarded when Hamza Lahmar converted a penalty to make it 3-0.
However, the victory was marred by the dismissal of star player Baghdad Bounedjah, who received a red card in the 72nd minute, reducing ESS to 10 men for the remainder of the match.
In the next round, Etoile du Sahel will face the winner of the tie between AFC Leopard and Supersport. With Supersport holding a 2-0 advantage from the first leg, they are currently in a favorable position to progress.
