CAF Cup: Espérance Tunis Secures Spot in the Group Stage

CAF Confederation Cup: Espérance de Tunis Advance to Group Stage After Draw in Accra

Espérance de Tunis have officially booked their spot in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage following a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Hearts of Oak in Accra this afternoon. The result, combined with their dominant 4-0 first-leg victory, sees the Tunisian Blood and Gold comfortably through to the next phase.

Match Recap

Hearts of Oak, needing a miracle to overturn the deficit, came out with intensity and opened the scoring in just the 3rd minute through Isaac Mensah, giving the home fans a glimmer of hope. Espérance nearly responded moments later, but their goal was disallowed for offside.

Despite sustained pressure from the Ghanaians, Espérance held firm. Their resilience paid off in the dying moments of the match when Wassim Naghmouchi struck in the 89th minute to level the score.

Aggregate Score: Espérance 5–1 Hearts of Oak

The draw means Espérance de Tunis continue their African journey, aiming to restore their continental dominance after missing out on the CAF Champions League. Hearts of Oak, meanwhile, exit the competition despite a spirited performance.

Espérance’s qualification reinforces their status as a powerhouse in African football and sets up an exciting group stage campaign ahead.
