Coton Sport Secure Crucial 2-1 Victory Over Petro Sport in CAF Cup
Coton Sport of Garoua secured a vital 2-1 win against Angola’s Petro Sport on Sunday in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup Round of 16 clash. Despite finishing the match with 10 men, the Cameroonian side managed to hold their own against a strong Petro Sport team, giving them a solid advantage heading into the return leg on April 27, 2014.
Coton Sport’s coach, Didier Gomes Da Rosa, expressed his satisfaction with the result, highlighting the determination and resilience shown by his team. “This victory allows us to be full of ambition. All hopes are allowed. We saw a very good Cameroonian team. With ten against eleven, we won this match against a very good Angolan team,” Da Rosa said after the game.
However, the coach also voiced his frustration with the officiating, noting that the referee’s decisions had a significant impact on the game. “There are worries to be had at this level. I think the refereeing trio should have managed better. We finished with ten men, I’m angry, but overall, very proud of my boys,” he added.
With the return leg fast approaching, Coton Sport will be looking to build on their hard-fought advantage as they aim to progress further in the prestigious continental competition.
