CAF Cup: ASO Chlef Clings to Hope Ahead of Crucial Second Leg vs Club Africain
ASO Chlef face a tough task this Saturday as they travel to Tunis to take on Club Africain in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup round of 16. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Algeria, Chlef must pull off a result away from home to book a spot in the group stage and rescue a season that has seen mixed fortunes.
Despite the odds, striker Mohamed Zaouche remains defiant and optimistic:
“We will fight to qualify for the next round. Club Africain is a solid team with experienced players and they have the slight advantage, but our squad is ready to rise to the occasion,” Zaouche told L’Expression.
He acknowledged the difficulty of the task:
“Not all the data are in our favor, but anything can happen. The players are determined. We must show a good face and honor Algerian football. The country’s colors are at stake.”
Club Africain, backed by a strong home crowd at the Radès Stadium, will look to capitalize on their away goal and solid squad depth to secure progression. However, ASO Chlef promises a spirited fight, hoping to write one of the surprises of this CAF Cup round.
