CAF Cup: Confident ASO Chlef Ready for Battle Against Horoya Conakry in Bamako
Algerian side ASO Chlef is in high spirits ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup Round of 32 first-leg encounter against Horoya AC of Guinea, which will be played this Friday in Bamako, Mali. The match has been relocated due to the Ebola epidemic affecting Guinea, prompting CAF to shift the venue for safety reasons.
Having landed in Bamako since Wednesday, the Chélifiens are settling in well and benefiting from strong support on the ground. “The Algerian embassy in Mali has been very attentive to us, as have the representatives of the Malian Football Federation,” confirmed Medouar, a club official, in a phone interview with APS.
🔍 Tactical Readiness and High Morale
Head coach Mohamed Benchouia, fresh off a morale-boosting Algerian Cup quarter-final win over USM Alger, is preparing to deploy a strong lineup for the continental clash. The squad is in good health and showing plenty of determination to earn a valuable away result.
“All the players involved in this match are in good health and ready for battle,” added the ASO official.
Benchouia and his team held their final training session on Thursday at the match venue, allowing the players to familiarize themselves with the pitch conditions in Bamako.
🗣️ Benchouia’s Ambition
Previously, the ASO Chlef coach emphasized the importance of carrying their domestic cup momentum into the African campaign, while acknowledging the unknown factor posed by Horoya Conakry:
“We have no information about this opponent… We will try to manage this first leg well to keep our chances of qualifying intact.”
With a confident mindset and solid preparation, ASO Chlef aims to return home with an advantage before the second leg on home soil in early April.
