CAF confirms dates for Mamelodi Sundowns vs FAR Rabat Champions League final
Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed the dates for the two-legged final of the CAF Champions League between Mamelodi Sundowns and FAR Rabat.
The continental showdown will see both sides battle for Africa’s most prestigious club trophy in a home-and-away format, with the first leg scheduled in South Africa and the return fixture in Morocco.
According to CAF, the opening leg will take place in Tshwane (Pretoria) on Sunday, May 17, at 16:00 local time (14:00 GMT). The decisive second leg will follow a week later in Rabat on Sunday, May 24, kicking off at 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT), where the champion will be crowned.
Both clubs arrive with strong ambitions, as Sundowns aim to secure their second continental title after their 2016 triumph, while FAR Rabat are chasing a return to African glory decades after their historic success in 1985.
CAF also confirmed that the winner of the competition will receive a record prize of $6 million, reinforcing the growing financial rewards in African club football under President Patrice Motsepe.
The final promises a high-stakes battle between two former champions, with continental pride, history, and a major financial reward all on the line.
