CAF confirm Morocco as host of 2027 U-17 AFCON

Morocco has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations (AFCON), following a decision by the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The decision was reached during a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee on Thursday, with the North African country selected to stage the continent’s premier tournament for men’s youth national teams.

The hosting rights represent another major CAF assignment for Morocco, which has in recent years established itself as one of Africa’s leading hosts of international football competitions.

The 2027 U-17 AFCON will bring together the continent’s best young talents as they compete for the African title and an opportunity to make their mark on the international stage.

Morocco’s selection is also expected to provide a strong platform for the development and exposure of Africa’s emerging football stars, with the tournament traditionally serving as an important pathway for players seeking to progress to senior international football.

The country has significant experience in hosting CAF and FIFA competitions and possesses the infrastructure required to stage a tournament of this magnitude.

CAF’s decision further strengthens Morocco’s position as a key destination for major football events on the continent.

With the host nation now confirmed, attention will turn to the qualification process and the participating teams that will compete for a place in the 2027 finals.

The U-17 AFCON remains one of CAF’s most important youth competitions, providing national teams with an opportunity to identify and develop players who could become future stars of African football.

Morocco will therefore have the responsibility of delivering a successful tournament while also providing the young players with the facilities and environment needed to showcase their abilities on one of the continent’s biggest stages.
