Chico Banza returns for Belouizdad clash

Angolan winger Chico Banza has reportedly recovered for the decisive CAF Confederation Cup semifinal return clash against CR Belouizdad.

Having being declared fit, the enterprising winger has resumed normal training, significantly boosting the squad’s options ahead of the decisive encounter.

The development comes at a key moment for the Egyptian giants Zamalek SC, who are aiming to secure a place in the final of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Angolan attacker is now fit and available for selection, but his involvement in the upcoming match is still not guaranteed.

The final decision rests with Zamalek head coach Moataz Gamal, who is yet to determine whether the player will be included in the matchday squad or eased back into action gradually.

Despite his recovery, technical considerations—including match fitness and tactical balance—will influence whether he features in such a high-stakes fixture.

Zamalek go into the second leg with confidence after securing a crucial 1-0 away victory over Algerian side CR Belouizdad in the first leg of the semi-final.

That result has given the Egyptian club a slight but important advantage heading into the return fixture, where they will look to complete the job and book a place in the final.

The return leg is scheduled for Friday, April 17, at 6:00 PM Cairo time, where Zamalek will host CR Belouizdad in what is expected to be a tense and tightly contested encounter.

With a narrow lead to defend, the White Castle are expected to approach the match with a mix of caution and attacking intent, aiming to capitalize on home advantage and early control of the game.

Even while recovering, Chico Banza has remained actively involved with the squad, showing strong support for his teammates during recent matches.

His presence in the dressing room and on the sidelines has been noted as a positive influence, particularly during Zamalek’s emphatic 4-1 victory in the Egyptian Premier League, which highlighted the team’s attacking strength and depth.

With fitness concerns now eased, attention turns to the tactical decision of the coaching staff. Whether Banza starts, comes off the bench, or is held back entirely will depend on how Zamalek intend to manage the second-leg pressure.

For now, the message from camp is clear: the player is ready—but the final call belongs to the bench. And with a continental final on the line, every decision could prove decisive.
