AS Maniema Union edged out Wydad Athletic Club 2-1 in a crucial CAF Confederation Cup Group B clash at TP Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi on Sunday.

Maniema took the lead in the 33rd minute through Beni Namboka, a strike that reflected the home side’s defensive organisation and pressing game.

The result allows Maniema Union to draw level with Wydad on nine points after four matchdays, intensifying the competition at the top of Group B.
Wydad, however, retains first place due to a superior goal difference of +4, compared to Maniema’s +3.
