Wydad AC president Saad Al-Drib has expressed optimism about his outfit upcoming CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal clash against Olympique Safi, while highlighting the challenges in facing domestic rivals in the competition.

The quarterfinals have narrowed the field to some of Africa’s strongest clubs, with each tie producing winners who will advance to the last four. Teams must navigate through knockout clashes, to earn a place in the semifinals.

Following the draw on Tuesday morning at CAF headquarters, Wydad AC and Olympique Safi have been paired in all-Moroccan affair in the quarterfinal.

Speaking after the draw, Wydad AC president highlighted the positives of his side facing Safi, while setting sites on all-Arabic final.

“One of the positives is not traveling, which is exhausting in Africa. The cards are out in the open for us and for Olympique Safi” he told ON Sport:

“There are no easy matches during the tournament, but I hope that the semi-final and final will be all-Arab.”

The quarter-final first legs are scheduled for 13–15 March 2026, with the return fixtures following a week later on 20–22 March.
